Enslaved Jews suffer toward an Exodus
Ancient Jewish testaments record times when Jewish population growth in Egypt struck fear into the hearts of Egypt’s leaders. During grain shortages in earlier years, Joseph helped by setting aside part of good harvests as an emergency food supply. Years later, Jewish documents show that tyrannical emperors began enslaving their Jewish minority to reduce their growth in numbers. Increasing cruelty would eventually force these enslaved people to the fearful choice of Exodus, to break away from homes in Egypt in search again for lands of “milk and honey.”
Finding many such lands already occupied, Exodus Jews would ultimately find violence necessary. Many genocide’s are biblically recorded as resulting from their struggles to improve their own lives. Deuteronomy 3:6, A Hebrew-English Bible, in Adams, R. A Letter to Dear Children: On our Overpopulation-Violence Connection p. 98.
Important lessons on human growth in numbers are preserved in the ancient documents of many great religions. Crucial wisdom must not be ignored today if we are to avoid repeating mistakes of violence and war.
