Overpopulation trumps happy half-truths. Many comforting ideologies take root as charismatic leaders find their societies hopelessly hindered by overpopulation. Then, the impossible must be promised. Then, nonsense takes root in shifting sands.

Ideologies offer comfort at times when ease is in short supply. Dogma lets some wallow in hope that yesterday’s dreams can persist and often justifies empire and violence to address the impact of human numbers.

Reality is hard. Especially when reality flows from passions overpopulation-selected into us human animals. Much more fun to believe that some religious mantra, some doctrinal maxim, some historic leader’s sacrifice entitles us to better, though we refuse to care enough to make better.

Like other overpopulating creature, humans are especially prone to seek escape through their dillywackers as paradise crumbles about us. Unlike other species, humans have learned to bring nuclear and bio-chem weapons to the mix.
