Over 15,000 of our best scientists have now warned us twice in 25 years, most recently in 2017. “By failing to adequately limit population growth, reassess the role of an economy rooted in growth, reduce greenhouse gases, incentivize renewable energy, protect habitat, restore ecosystems, curb pollution, halt defaunation, and constrain invasive alien species, humanity is not taking the urgent steps needed to safeguard our imperiled biosphere.”

This isn’t the first serious goof made by ignorant life on planet earth.

Around three billion years ago green bacteria screwed the pooch in much the same way. By metabolizing sunshine in increasing numbers they polluted their paradise with toxic, explosively-reactive oxygen. That rolled out a red carpet for an orgy of plant-eating predators.
